Enable billing model optimization
Alvin needs permission to manage your reservations in order to configure reservations and run your queries using the optimal billing model.
To enable this optimization, follow these steps:
Grant the service account you connected to Alvin for the savings report (e.g. alvin-agent) the BigQuery Resource Editor role for the project where you currently run queries for the chosen query source as follows:
Grant the service account or service accounts that run queries for the chosen query source (e.g. Looker, dbt) the BigQuery Resource Editor role for this project, if it doesn't have it already.
Once this is completed, Alvin will override the reservation ID at run-time (on-demand or capacity), to ensure queries run on the most cost effective billing model.
